Getting Started: Creating Your First Carbon Reduction Simulation

This guide will walk you through creating your first carbon reduction simulation to help you model different scenarios for achieving your climate goals.

Step 1: Navigate to Simulations

From the left navigation panel, click on 'Reduction Planning' and then select 'Simulations v2'.

Step 2: Create a New Simulation

On the 'Carbon Reduction Simulations' dashboard, click the 'Create New Simulations' button located in the top right corner.

Step 3: Define Simulation Information

Enter a descriptive 'Simulation Name' and an optional 'Description'. Choose your 'Emission Calculation Method' (Location-Based or Market-Based).

Note: This method cannot be changed once you generate levers.

Step 4: Select Activity Groups

Choose the 'Measurement Year' for your simulation. Then, review the list of activity groups, their emissions, and scopes.

Select the activity groups you wish to include in your simulation by checking the boxes next to them. Click 'Include Selected X Activities' to proceed.

Step 5: Review and Select Reduction Levers

On the 'Reduction Levers' step, you will see a list of potential reduction levers. You can search, filter, or create new levers as needed.

Select the levers you want to apply to your simulation. The 'Feasibility vs Impact Analysis' graph will help you visualize the potential of different levers.

Step 6: Complete and Review Simulation

Follow the remaining steps (BAU Projections, Review Levers) to finalize your simulation. Once completed, your simulation will appear on the 'Carbon Reduction Simulations' dashboard with its status and projected impact.

Once you are satisfied with the selected levers, save your simulation.
