You might encounter a situation where you cannot edit certain details of an existing carbon reduction simulation, particularly the emission calculation method.
Symptom: The 'Emission Calculation Method' options (Location-Based/Market-Based) are greyed out or appear unchangeable after you've progressed past the initial setup steps.
Cause: The system is designed to lock the emission calculation method once you have generated or started defining reduction levers for your simulation. This is because the calculation basis for these levers is tied to the chosen method, and changing it mid-simulation would invalidate the analysis.
Solution:
For Draft Simulations (before levers generated): If your simulation is still in 'Draft' status and you haven't proceeded to the 'Reduction levers' step, you should still be able to edit the emission calculation method. Ensure you are on the '1. Create simulation' or '2. Simulation details' step.
For Simulations with Levers: If you have already defined or generated reduction levers, you will not be able to change the emission calculation method for that specific simulation.
Option A: Create a New Simulation: The recommended approach is to create a new carbon reduction simulation from scratch. This allows you to select the desired emission calculation method from the start and redefine your levers.
Option B: Review Existing Data: Before creating a new simulation, double-check your initial selection to ensure it aligns with your reporting requirements. You can review the settings on the 'Simulation Details' page.
If you continue to experience issues, please contact support with the simulation name and a description of the problem.
